About Us
The North Shore Beach community of Rocky Point, NY was developed in 1928 as a summer resort on property along the Long Island Sound. Many residents now live here year-round. The Rocky Point Beautification and Revitalization Organization is a group of concerned community members and merchants working together to improve downtown Rocky Point. It was created in 1996 in order to receive monies made available by various town, county and state agencies for the purpose of community development. It is a not-for-profit organization created under section 501(C)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Future Plans

We continue to seek funding from government grants and private donations for additional projects. Some of the plans we have for the future of Rocky Point are continued improvements to the Rocky Point Park and Preserve, including maintenance of existing facilities. We are also in the process of having decorative lighting and street signs installed.

We work closely with the Rocky Point Civic Association, the Downtown Rocky Point Merchants Association at P.O. Box 258, Rocky Point, NY 11778 (Joan at 631-821-0808.), the Council of Dedicated Merchants, North Shore Beach Property Owners' Association, Rocky Point Fire Department, and the Rocky Point VFW. We seek input from community members with ideas to improve the downtown area. We also work closely with the Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County and New York State to accomplish our goals. Volunteers are always needed for park cleanup and gardening.

Rocky Point Park & Preserve Statue Dedication
September 2, 2000

On Saturday, September 2, local artist Temima Gezari's sculpture, Peace Totem, was unveiled during a dedication ceremony at the Rocky Point Park and Preserve located on Veteran's Way in downtown Rocky Point. Temima Gerazi is an inspiration to all of us--she is 94 years young and still creating works of art at her home on Noah's Path in Rocky Point. Temima's sculpture is of a man that is crouched down on his hands and knees. The man's back strains beneath the weight of the woman standing on him and the woman carefully balances a youth on the palm of her hands that reach above her. In the young adult's outstretched hands is a dove symbolizing peace.

The addition of the sculpture to the park was the idea of the Rocky Point Revitalization & Beautification Organization which consists of members from the CDM, Rocky Point Civic, North Shore Beach Association, Rocky Point Fire Dept., Rocky Point VFW, and the Rocky Point Downtown Merchants Association. Rocky Point thanks Temima Gezari (pictured) for her generous donation of the statue.
